NATIONAL STORYTELLING WEEK: 02.02.2026 - 06.02.2026

“Books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives.”

Roald Dahl (Matilida)

We have had a wonderful time celebrating National Storytelling Week here at school. A sincere thank you to Mrs Rabbette for organising such a thoughtfully planned and varied programme of events. There has been a real sense of excitement and enjoyment throughout the week.

Families were warmly welcomed into school for our Book and Biscuit Read with Me sessions. It was a pleasure to see parents and carers sharing stories with their children and enjoying time together with books at the centre of it all. These moments help to strengthen our shared love of reading between home and school.

Children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 also took part in engaging online workshops with authors, which sparked creativity and inspired many thoughtful questions. Mystery readers visited classes during the week, much to the delight of pupils, who listened carefully and enjoyed trying to guess each special guest.

A particular highlight was our whole school assembly, where Mrs Rabbette read the story Unplugged to everyone. The book shares an important message about taking time away from technology, spending time outdoors, meeting others and appreciating the beauty of the world around us. It provided a calm and reflective moment for the whole school community and encouraged us all to think about balance in our daily lives.

Staff also made full use of the excellent National Storytelling Week resources and videos for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, ensuring that all children experienced a rich and meaningful celebration of stories.

National Storytelling Week has been a joyful reminder of the power of storytelling to inspire, connect and bring our community together. Thank you once again to Mrs Rabbette for leading such a memorable week for our school family.
