National Storytelling Week 2026
National Storytelling Week, created by the Society for Storytelling, celebrates the joy and power of sharing stories. Stories help children understand the world, develop empathy, relax, and build essential literacy skills through reading, writing, and oral storytelling.

The 2026 theme, Soundtrack your story, explores how music, sound, rhythm, and lyrics can bring stories to life. Children will explore storytelling through songs, soundscapes, and creative expression, helping to reignite enjoyment in reading and writing.

This year’s project is supported by Amazon and forms part of the National Year of Reading 2026. Throughout the week, pupils will enjoy engaging activities that celebrate imagination, creativity, and the magic of storytelling.
