CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK : 09.02.2026 - 12.02.2026

"Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." Romans 15:7

As part of our ongoing commitment to pupils’ personal development, wellbeing and spiritual growth, our school took part in Children’s Mental Health Week, led by Place2Be, with the national theme ‘This Is My Place’.

The focus of the week was the importance of belonging and its significant impact on children’s mental health and wellbeing. We recognise that feeling a sense of belonging – within friendships, in school and in the wider community – is fundamental to pupils’ emotional development and reflects our Catholic belief that every child is uniquely created in the image and likeness of God and is therefore valued, loved and respected.

Throughout the week, pupils engaged in a range of age-appropriate activities, structured discussions and online webinars that supported them to reflect on what belonging means and how positive relationships help us to flourish. These experiences encouraged pupils to show empathy, kindness and respect for others, reinforcing our mission to live out Gospel values in our daily interactions and to create an inclusive and nurturing school environment.

Children were given opportunities to share their thoughts and feelings and to recognise the role that peers, families, school and community play in supporting wellbeing. This aligns with our commitment to ensuring pupils feel safe, listened to and supported, enabling them to develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self-worth.

The week concluded with the creation of a pupil-led video celebrating ‘This Is My Place’, which clearly demonstrates how our school community supports children to feel that they belong. The video reflects a strong culture of care, mutual respect and shared responsibility, highlighting our school as a place where pupils feel safe, valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Children’s Mental Health Week provided a valuable opportunity to further strengthen our whole-school approach to wellbeing and personal development, ensuring that our pupils are well-supported to thrive academically, socially and spiritually.
