afPE Quality Mark for Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity – Distinction

We are extremely proud that our school has been awarded the prestigious Association for Physical Education (afPE) Quality Mark with Distinction — the highest level of recognition for a school’s commitment to high-quality Physical Education, school sport and physical activity.

This national award, valid for three years from July 2023, celebrates our school’s outstanding commitment to improvement and excellence in PE.

Our validator commended us for:

  • Being a wonderful example of a true community school, with the wellbeing of pupils and families at its heart.

  • Demonstrating strong leadership that supports pupils’ physical and mental health, fostering a safe, active and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

  • Maintaining a clear focus on post-Covid recovery, ensuring no child is left behind emotionally or physically.

  • Promoting inclusivity and aspiration for all, with no barriers to success in sport or physical activity.

As part of our ongoing development, we continue to build on our skills-based PE curriculum, ensuring all staff understand and contribute to the positive impact that high-quality Physical Education has on every child.

A letter from Sue Wilkinson MBE, afPE’s CEO, outlining the reasons for our Distinction award, is available below:
