ABOUT OUR NURSERY & DAYCARE
Welcome to St Sebastian’s Nursery & Daycare
A nurturing beginning to a lifelong journey of learning, faith and belonging.
St Sebastian’s Daycare is part of St Sebastian’s Catholic Primary School & Nursery, providing high-quality early education and care for our youngest children from 9 months old.
We understand how important it is for families to know that their child is happy, safe, cared for and valued.
Our experienced and caring team provides a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child is encouraged to explore, play, communicate, build relationships and develop at their own pace.
At St Sebastian’s, we want every child to have the very best start to their early years journey.
Growing and Learning Together
Our Daycare provision is carefully designed around the needs of babies and toddlers.
Through purposeful play, positive relationships and a stimulating environment, we support children’s development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Children are given opportunities to develop their confidence, independence, curiosity and communication through a balance of child-led exploration and carefully planned, age-appropriate experiences.
Our team takes time to get to know every child as an individual, recognising that children develop in different ways and at different rates. Our staff work closely with parents and carers to understand their routines, interests, needs and development.
Our Catholic Ethos
As part of St Sebastian’s Catholic Primary School, Nursery & Daycare, our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do.
From their earliest experiences with us, children are introduced to Catholic Christian values such as love, kindness, respect, forgiveness and care for others.
These values are brought to life in age-appropriate ways through planned creative activities, stories, songs, prayer and celebrations, as well as through the way we care for and treat one another each day.
We warmly welcome children and families of all faiths and backgrounds. Together, we create an inclusive community where every child is known, loved, valued and encouraged to grow.
One St Sebastian’s Family
Being part of St Sebastian’s means that our Daycare children are welcomed into our wider school, Nursery and parish community from the very beginning.
Children benefit from being part of a familiar and caring environment, with opportunities to experience the wider life of St Sebastian’s in ways that are appropriate for their age.
As children grow, our Daycare and Nursery teams work closely together to support a positive transition into the next stage of their Early Years journey.
Our aim is to provide children with a strong sense of belonging, security and continuity as they grow and develop.
Attendance at St Sebastian’s Daycare or Nursery DOES NOT guarantee or provide automatic admission to St Sebastian’s Catholic Primary School.
Applications for Reception places are made through the usual school admissions process. Please refer to Admissions for more information regarding the Reception application process.
Working in Partnership with Families
We recognise parents and carers as their child’s first and most important educators and we believe that children thrive when families and Daycare work closely together.
From the moment your child joins us, we take time to understand their individual routines, interests, likes and dislikes, development and care needs.
We value open and regular communication with families and will keep you informed about your child’s experiences, learning, development and wellbeing.
By sharing information and working together, we can provide consistent and individualised care that supports each child to flourish.
A Safe and Nurturing Environment
The safety and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of our provision.
Our Daycare environment and daily routines are carefully organised to support the needs of young children, while our staff follow the school’s safeguarding, welfare and Early Years procedures.
We want children to feel safe, secure and confident, enabling them to develop positive relationships, explore their surroundings and enjoy learning through play.
