afPE Quality Mark for Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity - Distinction
Thank you for your application for the Quality Mark award.
The assessment panel has considered your application, together with the feedback from the validation, and afPE is delighted to award your school the Quality Mark with Distinction for 'demonstrating outstanding commitment to improvement in Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity’. Your award is valid for three years, commencing July 2023.

The validator has highlighted the following reasons for the award:

  • The school is a wonderful example of a community school, with the community at its heart. SLT understand how powerful this can be in terms of supporting the pupils through interacting with parents and carers, understanding its families and providing them with a haven where they can all feel safe and thrive, through active, healthy lifestyles. Serving the community is a priority as good progress relies on the child’s physical and mental good health.
  •  Post Covid, the school recognises that many children are still struggling. The school was a hub site for local schools throughout the pandemic and continues to focus on a Covid recovery plan to ensure that no young people are left behind either emotionally or physically.
  • The school is absolutely inclusive. Every child is aspirational and celebrated and there are no barriers to success in sport and physical activity.

Your validator has identified the following additional areas for development:

  • To continue to develop the skills-based curriculum ensuring that all staff have an understanding of the impact.
